The Dog Down Pose
Adho Mukha Svanasana
This dog face down posture gives you the benefits of stretching the hamstrings and calf muscles. Develops both strength and suppleness in the shoulder joints.
Beginners might find their feet difficult to touch the floor. Start from tiptoes and gradually get heels to go down.
I found this posture a little challenging at start, but gives a good stretch!
Apart from practising Yoga as a regular physical exercise, the main benefit of Yoga to me is the chance to reflect my innerself. Not everyone realizes minds play an important trick on our day-to-day life. Busy work schedule, interaction with people around you and the never-ending chores for the kids can overwhelm you at a sudden moment when you the least expect it! You could feel EVERYTHING is becoming unbearable, you have no intolerance for yourself, for your family or anyone around you! Where is my position? What have I become? Why do I do what I do everyday?
The number of experiences of such feeling almost always add toxics to my mind. Yoga is where I turn to, through deep breath in and breath out, forget all that is stressful, let mind cleanse and rescue myself from the frantic abyss. The problem will not go away, but you will have a fresher mind to face it once you practised your breath-in and breath-out!
How is your inner-self today? Would love to hear from what you have to say!
